Help, I poked myself and it bleeds! Aaaah!

I was cleaning my ear with a q-tip and I poked myself and when i took hte q-tip out there was a little bit of blood on it. It's really not much...not like I'm gonna bleed out of my ear any time soon. JUst a drop or so...but I'm afraid that the blood will keep coming out a tiny little bit and then will clot inside my ear and make it dirty and i'll hear badly...aaah, what should i do?

thanks

sorry for laughing, but it's gotta be one of the most intriguing thread titles ever lol

I doubt it'll amount to anything - did it hurt when you put it in? if you hit the eardrum then you'd know about it, but otherwise i doubt it's anything worth worrying about. and if it was just a drop or so, chances are it'll have scabbed over and won't bleed again, or you may have dislodged it and it has to heal again - either way not a problem. Try leaving it a bit before *poking* yourself again

I agree about the thread title. Best H&R mental image I've had in a while. Are you sure it wasn't just dark wax?

Yeah, I thought it was filth too - very disappointed.

Puncturing your ear drum isn't all that painful. Did it myself once. Although it did create a bit more than a couple of drops of blood.

You could well just have cut the skin in your ear canal, but it's worth going to A&E to have it looked at if not tonight then at least tomorrow.

Wow i thought if you punctured your ear drum. Your hearing was gone for good. Thank god. That had me worrying.

just to say, for future reference, that you really shouldn't be poking around inside your ear. They are very sensitive and you shouldn't stick anything up there at all. Ears are self-cleaning so there shouldn't be any need anyway.

If you want to clean your ears use some sort of drops.
I've never heard an English person call them a q-tip.
