Was this a miscarriage? (warning: very gross) watch

I'm currently on my period and use a mooncup. When I took it out to empty I noticed that there was something was in the blood. I poured the blood onto my hand and looked at it. There was a grey piece of I don't know what, it was about 1cm square and it looked like cells packed next to each other do. It felt kind of jelly like.

I tried to find a picture of something similar on googleimages without luck.

Does this sound like it might have been a miscarriage?

Your GP could run a blood test to see if you have any hormones still present that would indicate a recent pregnancy. Remember the uterine lining is shed, it's not just blood that comes out. It can seem like blood and clots especially if you use things like tampons or pads, in a mooncup it can be much easier to see membrane like tissue or things left behind from sexual activity (semen, lubricant).

If your periods are coming regularly and this one was on time it's unlikely that you conceived in this past cycle but go have a check up at the GP and get an answer you can trust.

Were you expecting to be pregnant? If this was your regular period (same time, feeling, etc) then you couldn't really have been pregnant (periods have to stop as a condition of ongoing pregnancy). As the last poster said, it's not just blood (which can form big clots anyway) but the endometrial lining. It's far more likely that what you saw was either a clot, endometrium, or both.
