Hi I'm Ellie and this is my 'Grow your grades' thread,
I am an A2 student applying for Biomedical sciences with a year abroad (hopefully at Kent), but I need ABB to get there (or BBB without the year abroad)!
At AS I got overall (grades in different units):
Biology: D (C+E+A)
Chemistry: C (C+D+B)
History: B (low B+ low B)
(Maths: D (B+E+E))
At A2 I'm predicted:
Biology: B
Chemistry: C
History: A (worried my teachers have predicted too high
)
I'm resitting:
Biology: unit 2 (E)
Chemistry: unit 2 (D) (+ 3 practicals (low B))
Goals for this academic year (2015-2016):
--> Grow my grades from BCD to ABB (get an A in History and Bs in biology AND chemistry)--> Get an A* in my history coursework (Portuguese Age of Discovery)
--> Revise smarter (start sooner and don't just rewrite notes again and again and ag...)
--> Get my EPQ DONE! (Limitations and future of human organ transplants)
--> Learn to drive (literally all your friends are learning, there is no ACTUAL reason why you're putting it off!!!)
Join me on my journey to achieve my #academicgoals in 2k16, let the adventure begin!
Ellie
P.S. I know I sort of started this late, but oh well...

Ooo, I like your goals, particularly learning to drive and an A* in the history coursework (interesting topic
)
Best of luck!

Hi EllieO
Great start to your blog
Have you got any ideas from your mocks about what other improvements you think you'll make for the summer?

Okay, so I have been really lazy with this thread, but now it's update time!
I got a "solid A*" in my history coursework! *party popper goes off*
I had my first driving lesson last Wednesday and I've booked 2 hours every Thursday's now
My February mock results weren't as good, in December I got AAE (history, biology and chemistry) but in this set I got BBD. Hotly I'm okay with because the grade boundaries were really high, usually 38/45 is at least an A if not an A*. I got 38 in one essay and 36 in the other, but I did some number crunching the other day a figured out I need at least 38 in each essay to get an A overall. My B in biology I'm not so happy about as it was a low B (68%) and my teacher even put a C on my progress report *grrrr*. Chemistry I was pretty disappointed about, the paper itself was the whole 2015 unit 1 paper (a real **** of a paper) and part of the 2015 unit 2 paper (which I admit I could have done A LOT more revision for). The first part I got a D on and the second part a U, so really I got a U overall but our entire class did pretty poorly on the unit 2 part so our teacher just recorded the unit 1 grade on our reports. Even though, a D is better than an E as revision before I'd done two past papers and got low Bs/ high Cs, so I was a bit surprised when I did badly.
I'm going to start doing actual revision over Spring break, I'll finish summarising the remains few modules in chemistry and biology and then condense them on to poster. Then it will be past paper time, originally I was going to do one from each subject a week but my teachers said to save them for closer to the exam. I think I'll only do one a week alternating between chemistry and biology, then history there's less practice questions available so I'll just do them once I've finished summarising the relevant module.

Good job with your history coursework and surviving your mock results
I like your plan as well - posters are a good idea
