What to write in email requesting course swap?

Hi

Basically I have been told by one of my unis to email them with a short statement on my reasons why I want to change course and why I want to do the course I want to change to. I was just wondering whether this should be presented sort of like the personal statement-you know start with a quote on why I want to do that subject etc. Basically what is required? Has anyone else done this before?

If it makes any difference I am asking my insurance to allow me to swap to either their straight honours English course or the combined English and History. My offer is for History.

Thanks
I swapped mine at Chester from drama and dance to just single honours dance with no probs, i called them and did it all over the phone. I'd suggest phoning someone so you can get it sorted straight away rather than waiting around for an email. I just said i wanted to concentrate on the one area rather than the two, just tell it like it is

Thanks for the response, I have spoken to an admissions tutor and she told me to email them.

I had to do that when I wanted to change my course. I was trying to change it from Politics&Development to Politics&Economics and I made it into a mini-PS. Saying basically why I wanted to study Economics and how it was better for my future plans and what aspects I preferred in the courses rather than the course I was trying to switch from. Anyway, at the end they didn't let me change the course to Pol&Eco (oversubscribed) so I just told them over the phone to switch me to single Politics so I could do Economics courses as a floater. For that I didn't need to write any more statements or anything.
A mini personal statement concentrating on why you now want to study English seems like the way to go.
