Sorry if I'm wrong, but I don't think this exam has been mentioned yet, so I'll mention it here. Did anyone else find the above extremely difficult, and harder than any practice papers? I usually do quite well on pure, with P1-P4 spreading from 83% to 100%. I think this one will find it tricky to make even 60%!!! I'm not kidding, every question I struggled with!
Did anyone else have the same problems? Make me feel a bit better about it please!!!! If everyone else did really bad, then the grade boundaries would be lowered right down, as I suspect M2s were in January 2004 for EdExcel.
I didn't like nearly every question, getting horrible integrals involving cos²xsin²x or sec^4x and horrible integrals to evaluate. I also hated some of the "show that" questions, especially the reduction formula one! Yuk! I'm usually quite good at those, but I messed that up completely I think! I managed to evaluate I4 correctly though.
Anyway, what did anyone else think? Question 8 hard? (That was the loci question about show the locus of Q is.....) and also question3 (I think) was particularly hard in the last part, using the focus-directrix principle of the ellipse to show that S'P + SP = 6 or similar. I managed the two foci though (good old formula booklet!) as (root5, o) and (-root5, o)
