My eye really hurts

I woke up this morning and the eyelid on my left eye is really pink and swollen and just looks weird in general. it hurts every time i blink - it kind of feels really heavy. it's not conjunctivitis cos iv had that before and my actual eyeball is perfectly normal; it's just the eyelid which hurts. i had this 2 weeks ago but it was only the outer-side of the eyelid which was swollen and it disappeared within a day. the week before that, i had it on my right eye but again, it was really mild and disappeared quickly. what is it? is it connected to hayfever cos i havent taken my medication for a few days

It could be anything, probably to do with hayfever if you're not taking your medication. Beyond that, we'd all be guessing wildly, if it doesn't go away in a day or so like it did before then see a doctor.
^^^ I was going to suggest a stye too, but must be quite a nasty one by the sounds of it!
You can have conjunctivitis multiple times

Why
You can have conjunctivitis multiple times

That's not why the OP doesn't think it's conjunctivitis :p:

You could be allergic to something. Not necessarily something you put on your eyes either. I wouldn't be surprised if it *was* hayfever though. Maybe try using Opticrom eye drops for a few days and see if they help.

i.e. they have had it before and know it's not like this.

I was just concerned with the former to make it completely clear that you can have conjunctivitis multiple times because she thinks you can't.

Anyhow, This is probably one of the most poorly constructed posts I've ever seen (The OP's original.) She says her eye is pink and swollen, Which part of it? What's pink. What's swollen..

Just to be picky...

Oh, just a thought - the eyelid on one of my eyes (I forget which one) once went pink and swollen a day or two before I came down with a nasty virus, so it could be something like that.

On another note, have you been ingesting vodka through your eyeball? Could be an explanation...
let me just clarify: i know it's not conjunctivitis because my eyeball isn't red (ie: something to do with blood vessels becoming inflamed) and i know what conjunctivities is like because iv had it before.

it does look like stye actually but it's already gone down and doesn't hurt as much. it's not really noticeable anymore because i just held a cool cloth against my eye which soothed it

thanks for all the replies
