    Hi,

I have received a conditional offer for Cardiff University for September 2016

I'm curious if anyone could give me some insight into what the hours and/or days weekly are like please? As i will be travelling to and from university throughout, rather than moving to study.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I did psychology (not with counselling) so my response is based on that experience, but I would imagine with counselling would be somewhat similar.

In first and second year (third year gets a bit more complicated because you get choices of modules) you generally do 3 psych modules per semester. You'd have two hour-long lectures a week for each of the modules = 6 hours of lectures. Then you'll also have a two hour seminar every fortnight-ish. Plus tutorials here and then (a few per semester). So overall it shouldn't be too many hours that you'd have to be in uni if you're commuting, possibly a little extra because you're doing the Counselling as well. But it will all depend on how the timetable is structured - you might have a day free (likely wednesday as there are no lectures in the afternoons for sports) or you might find the sessions are spread out so you have to travel in every day or waiting for hours between lectures.

I know a few people who commuted from Bristol and they seemed to manage - it just sucks if you happen to have a 9am and 4pm lecture of the same day!

    Hope that is somewhat helpful

That's a great help and reassurance too hearing others have commuted for the course from Bristol. Thank you. I'm hoping to enquire further at the applicant day I'm attending next week into the amount of counselling to be included too. Really appreciate your help.
