Masters Funding after Postgraduate Drop OutWatch
I started a research council funded PhD in 2015 but due to several reasons had to withdraw.
I want to undertake a masters program in the 2016/17 academic year but will be unable to fund it without the new £10, 000 masters loan. Will I be eligible to apply?
According to the information currently available, those who hold a masters level qualification or higher cannot apply: however my highest qualification is a Bsc which technically makes me eligible. However, I just wanted to know whether my situation is likely to change this?
If the student did not receive a qualification when previously studying a postgraduate Master's degree whilst not receiving a Postgraduate loan, then any previous study used will not be counted.
Thanks for the reply, but could you please qualify what you meant by "any previous study used will not be counted"? Does this mean the postgraduate study I undertook will not be counted when making an application for the loan (i.e. it will not impede my application)? Also, you mention a masters degree but I was on a PhD.
Essentially I just want confirmation that I will be eligible, given the information I have provided above.
We have been advised the postgraduate loan with be for Masters courses only. As long as you do not hold this qualification already and have not had a loan for postgraduate funding, you will be able to apply.
That has cleared things up for me, thank you so much for your response.
