I'm looking into transferring university (currently in foundation year, wanting to transfer into first year of a different uni) and the only person I can think of asking for a reference is my personal tutor, I know she will probably try and talk me out of it, but is there any chance the uni will I don't know, expel me knowing that I won't be continuing with them for next year. I want to use my foundation year (diploma of higher education) to help with my UCAS application. Separate question: do universities accept foundation year qualifications? Thank you.

I don't think they can withdraw your place over a reference so don't worry. As for your second question, it all depends on whether each individual university accepts it or not as foundation years aren't always transferable .

Pretty sure they're not allowed to refuse/give you a bad reference!
You will have to check the requirements for each course you want to do in each university to see what the entry requirements are, and what qualifications they accept.

However my problem here is that I am pretty sure the UCAS application window has passed for courses starting this year? You may have to wait until October this year to apply for the first year course starting in 2017. I am not certain on this however, it is just something to consider.

I'm sure you can apply up until the 30th June but it won't get equal consideration- however the course I'm applying for is one of the less popular ones and has been in clearing for the past 3 years from most Uni's (I know that could change but I'm just saying).

In that case, if you are sure you want to apply this year, then ask your tutor, they can't say no, they may wish to keep you, but at the end of the day they are there to help your academic progression.
