how do guys deal with breakups???!!!!

I dated a guy for 8 months we were pretty close... Unfortunatly we broke up more by force.. He has a friends with benefits but i always see him glancing staring lingeeing etc.. He cut me off and now its as if there is so much tension.. and im just really curious as to what all this means and how guys tend to usually deal with breakups especially in his case.
