hey guys, im feeling a bit bored, and flat on my gap year, so i fancy doing something wild. does anyone know how much a skydive would set me back, and how much training you ned to get before etcetc. any input warmly welcomed.
cheers,

I'd suggest you go to Airkix. We have one here in milton keynes, about an hour from lonodn. A 10,000ft natural skydiving drop is done in about 30 seconds of freefall. When you factor in professional tuition and fuel, that'll cost you a bomb for a decent amount of flying time.

Compare that to indoor sky diving (i promise you it isnt as bad as it sounds). Theres virtually no risk of a fatality, air time is significantly greater and cost is significantly less.

Check it out anyway:

hey, I'm a skydiver myself, depending on what you want depends on the cost.

a tandem skydive expect to pay roughly ÂŁ200, thats from 15,000 ft and about a minute of freefall time, i recommend this if you want to try it out, if you like it then do a static line or aff course.

a static line course varies, at our uni its ÂŁ165 for 3 jumps but i think that is a deal we have with a dropzone. a static line course involves jumping from about 3,000 ft with an automatic deploying system so no need to worry about pulling your chute. I would only recommend this if you have a low amount of money and just want to jump from a plane as it only involves 3 seconds of freefall time.

If you want to become a qualified skydiver you could do Aff. it well set you back about ÂŁ1500 or ÂŁ300ish a level. that involves jumping from 15,000 ft with about a minute of freefall. you jump with 2 instructors for your first 3 levels and one from there after. you also pull your own chute.

Both static line and Aff require a days ground training before you can jump. tandem is about 20 mins training.

I've done both Airkix and a 'real' skydive.

Skydiving is infinately better.

You can't compare the view and the adrenaline rush....there's just no competition. I paid about ÂŁ130 for mine.

You could do it for charity? THere was a poster at my school saying you do it for free if you raise ÂŁ400 +
Oh I so want to skydive. I think it takes about 2 days to learn if your going solo. And just be careful if you have bad ears, because I've been told it canes your ears on the way down.
Oh and make sure you pay the extra money to get the DVD or photos!
