I have an interview for the university of greenwich to learn how to teach secondary chemistry. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what a subject knowledge audit entails. and what do they mean by timed written task regarding curriculum and critical reflection. I understand the curriculum part but unsure if the critical reflection is in regards to curriculum or if i will be expected to critically evaluate myself. does anyone happen to know?

    Hi !

Congratulations on your interview invitation and we wish you the best of luck for it too!

Our Subject Knowledge Audit is just seeing what you already know about the PGCE Secondary with Chemistry course in general. We understand that you may not know alot of information about this area, but just to see how much you may already know - you will not need to prepare for this task as such.

For the Curriculum and Critical Reflection, it would be something best to prepare for. When becoming a teacher, it is always important to stay up to date with relevant news within the Education sector. On the day you should receive an article which you will need to refer to and evaluate in a 'timed' basis. We understand that hearing 'timed' may be a turn down, but it's just to see how quick you can analyse a text by extracting all the important information. Also, by reading up on some news in relation to the Education sector (prior to your interview), you may be able to bring those issues into the article evaluation too!

I hope this helps and we wish you the best of luck with the interview!
Let us know if you need anything else!
