I have started writing the I.Y.G.B. Special Papers (26 in total) and the actual question papers will be posted in this thread (posts 2/3/4)

.These are hard papers based on the current Core Mathematics Syllabi introduced in 2005.

    Who might find them useful?
Students that are preparing for MAT / STEP I – II / AEA.
Extremely able students which have covered the Core modules C1-C4.
Anybody who has interest in non Standard A level Questions.

Most of the papers are non calculator (2 or 3 will be calculator)

    Their style?
I guess users of these papers will be the judges.

This is what I had in mind…
    • Shorter questions than those in STEP I – II / AEA.
    • Half the paper having familiar context but increased difficulty.
    • Half the paper having unfamiliar context.
    • Most of the questions having minimal structure or no structure.
    • Questions requiring above average levels of numeracy.
    • Questions requiring above average level/knowledge of algebraic processing.
    • Questions testing wider breadth of techniques and knowledge rather than intelligence under exam conditions.
The solutions will be available from my site (the files are too large to post here) for a limited time as I have been asked to remove them by teachers who wish to use them.

PS please let me know of obvious typos, errors (inc grammatical), omissions etc

I am preparing for the AEA examination in the summer. Your papers are awesome because they are so challenging. I felt confident and decided to jump into your special papers having not done any C3 or C4 past papers yet, I completed it scraping a pass at 41.5. I then looked at an AEA paper and thought 'wow this is baby work compared to TeeEm's paper'.

I am going to attempt another special paper after I get more standard C3-C4 practice. When it comes to June I should have no trouble securing a merit/distinction in the AEA.

doing those papers to get better at normal c1-c4 questions is like trying to drive an F1 car to get better at driving on the road. if you're feeling confident, you should try them, but beware the questions are sadistic killers.

Will the papers ever be this hard? I'm doing the C1 ones and some questions are exceptionally confusing yet I can get full marks on normal c1 papers
