    Hello,
I'd like to ask for help in finding an exam centre in the North-East. Anywhere in the North-East, as I'm starting to get desperate finding one.

I'm studying the subjects Mathematics, Physics and German. I'm able to find schools that will let me do the papers, but none will do the Speaking part of German or the Practical Assessment of Physics.

So far I've already exhausted the lists on the exam boards, and I really have no idea what to do. Could anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Because I live here, and ideally I would exhaust all of the schools in this area before moving further outwards. The North-East is already a pretty big place, and on top of the exam fees, centre admin fees, travel fees, I would probably need hotel stays if I were to go all the way down south for Exams on account of not being able to get there on time in the mornings otherwise.

I haven't tried Grimsby yet, do you have any inclination whether they might do these units, or is it just a pure guess?

1/2 hour to 1 hour drive is not that long. Plus I assume a lot of your exams are going to be in the afternoon so you don't need to get up early too often.

    I assume you're talking about A-levels?

It's going to be tough and probably expensive. You may have to travel and stay somewhere for a couple of weeks.

Pembrokeshire College Online will do the physics practicals over a week-long workshop at their site in Wales. Otherwise, there are a couple of centres in London that will do it. Go to the HE Exams wiki at www.home-education-exams.org.uk and click on "Finding an exam centre" to see if there are any leads near you.

Sometimes people manage to persuade a local school or college to take you on a one - off basis, even if they're not listed on the exam board sites as taking external candidates. I'd suggest emailing the head pleading your case - explaining why you're in this situation and how much difference it would make to you to have a local exam centre.

    Good luck...
