Choose Kingston, It's more respected plus the course seems more interesting.. Kingston has a nice town centre, but Greenwich has a nice campus, Go visit and see what you think

As the first reply stated, Kingston is the superior choice. Better reputation and more interesting course. Greenwich may be a pretty campus but does not have the academic credentials. A case of style over substance.

I've got Kingston as my firm & Greenwich as my insurance, Kingston seemed to be the better uni & Greenwich also seemed more expensive.

you shouldnt choose a uni based on reputation, choose one that suits you, go to an open day or something,

Academic credentials!? According to the Research Assessment Exercise, Greenwich has entered more subjects (19) than Kingston (13) and they are about evenly matched, with around 3 or 4 departments scoring 4 - neither of these universities have any research departments at 5/5* (this usually happens at older universities/or established or up and coming "new" universities). This shows that Greenwich has a slightly stronger research output than Kingston overall.

I'm thinking that people have relied on the Times rankings or that fact that Kingston was put up for university of the year category that has boosted its reputation - but when you look to the official sources, a different story is told - I'm not saying it's bad, it just isn't anything above Greenwich - so take these "reputation" statements with a pinch of salt.

As for the courses, forensics and criminology sounds good but is most probably glorified sociology and plus we need more qualified Midwives - I can imagine midwifery being a most rewarding career and the most gratifying. You can't really compare these courses, totally different. You really need to go somewhere where you'll be happy and like the feel of the place, not to mention find out what you want to do in the future - as you'll be heading in two totally different directions if you do one or the other.

I'd definitely say visit each university and find out what each course involves - but first your friend has to find out where they want to be heading in the long run - nothing worse than doing 3 years of a degree you can't stand.

Good luck to your friend and here are a few links:
