I have similar offers from both Manchester University and Lancaster University (AAB) to study economics and finance, and I am trying to decide between the two. Manchester has a better reputation internationally but I would really really like to go to Lancaster (small town, better ranking etc etc). Which do you think I should choose?

Ranking and reputation are both no way to choose a University.
Rankings and League Tables are all about marketing and selling newspapers. They cannot tell you which course you will find more interesting or engaging, Reputation is such a silly nebulous concept it really isnt even worth thinking about. Ultimately your chances in life will depend on your degree result, what else is on your CV apart from that (relevant work experience, volunteering & community involvement etc) and your ability to write a sensible application and perform well at interview.
Go to the Uni that has the best course for you, and where you think you will be happiest living. That will give you the best chance of a good degree result - and being a contented, happy person.
