National biscuit shortageWatch
Apparently its because the national biscuit factory in Carlisle has been flooded. This all comes at a time when the government tells us to eat less sweet things and is wanting a tax on sugar. Suspicious or what?
The biggest fear is the government might decide not to rebuild the factory and open it. Or even put it as a low priority giving the austerity. It could take years before we get Bourbon biscuits back.
This could be a growing problem with government austerity failing to repair or rebuild food production factories. Today its biscuits, but next it could be stuff like bread, pies, soup etc that fail to appear on our increasingly empty supermarket shelves leading to people importing it from abroad and selling at an extortionate price.
Is this just the start of a food production crisis?
