Just wondering how you guys who study via distance learning go about actually learning the material do you simoly watch videos or do you make notes as you would in a class-room?

I'm not on a distance course, but I'm self-studying a couple of things.

You're the only one that knows how you learn, and retain information, best! I take extensive notes, from textbooks or from watching videos, but also putting the information into my own words. I really can't retain anything unless I've written it down, and I keep everything colour coded. I also create/answer questions based on the notes I've made, to check that I'm remembering everything. But then I really enjoy this sort of thing, and that works for me.

You could also keep voice recordings of your respones to a text/video, make flash cards, make videos of yourself explaining the key concepts or any number of other things. It's a hard question because the answer is so individual
