When you registered with your GP...

Just wonder when you registered with your GP, when you did the form thing about your health and some other related info, did it ask you something like have you or any of your family members have had serious illnesses, or sth?

Coz I think I just simply said no or I dunno to most of the questions (coz I really didn't care as much), but now I think I really should give the info just in case, coz my dad had cancer and my granny had diabetes, and they both died years ago. And my mum has always been worrying that I might get them one day... I am seeing my doctor next week for something else, should I mention it as well, or does it matter? Coz it sounds really stupid to bring up this topic seems totally un related, and also I am still scared of her, although she is very nice...

could be worthwhile, it might speed up diagnosis should you contract these things (hope you dont mind  )
as for bringing it up you could make like youve only recently found out, after all there was a dont know option
Coz I was thinking using my mum as an excuse, sth like she has just told me to pass on or sth, which is actully true, but she told me to pass on like a couple of years ago... but I still think it would be a stupid act... for some reason, but I am sure all doctors have seem many many weird people...

What does sth mean?

But I don't think it's a big deal, if you ever get any serious symptoms or anything they will ask you again. If it is worrying you then mention it.

I say don't do it. I had a heart op when I was 4 and put that down under 'major surgery' even though it is completely healed, has never troubled me since and has very very little chance of troubling me again. What a mistake

Every time I go to the doctors about anything, its to do with my heart. One time I was recovering from flu and had a horrible cough, so I went to the doctor to get something strong for my throat and she tried to send me to the hospital to get my heart checked out  I went on the Pill, had to have additional regular checks to ensure it wasn't affecting my heart.

Calm down woman! My heart is as healthy as yours, stop trying to scare me!
I was only asked if anyone in my family had DVT. Now it is a nightmare going to the doc cos they can't find the records my previous GP should have sent.

I filled in a questionnaire with some general medical questions on it such as what meds im taking, surgeries, medical conditions, family conditions. Then i met with the nurse who took a few details like my height, weight and blood pressure. That was it.

Yeah, you should have an accurate medical history on record, just in case.
