hi..i'm retaking my ALs for the THIRD time this june (starting from 2000, every other year!) and i dont think i'm gonna make it even this time..maybe a DD...i got EU both times before......(maths & physics).....i've been working since aug 2000 and i always start studying at the last possible time after taking leave from work..i got 5 months to revise this year two since i started my evening classes in january....i KNOW i'm a bright person (i got ABBBCE in O'Ls and CPE 'C' ), i just dont know why i never took my ALs seriously until the last minute. i need atleast 2 Cs to apply for any scholarship here..but i'm sure it'd have to be better than that to really get it as it's really competitive!!.....i'm thinking of doing A level law and sociology in a year...i didnt know before those subjects could be done in 1 yr or else i'd have tried them by now ofcourse!! i'm really interested in sociology...and i'm sure i can get good grades in both...but what if i fail again?? i'm supporting my mom and grandma too and any other relative who asks me for something (my parents are divorced)...then i was thinking maybe i should get a part-time job and just save money instead of studying? i'm sure my mom must be thinking there's no good in having a working daughter!! (she did say something about so much money being wasted the last time i failed)......i really want to go to uni and get a degree...i really want to study...but i'm fed up doing the same thing....i'm interested in doing a psychology or computer related degree...i know i have to work for it...i know it's all my fault i'm stuck here while all my friends are getting their degrees abroad....i have a friend abroad who said i could apply for this schol fund where they dont really look at A'ls.....i have sent him copies of my certs and i guess i'd know what happens maybe next month....so what do i do?do another 2 Als?or get a job?or start Als and quit if i get the schol?and there's another thing...my mom is getting a loan and i'd be paying monthly for it....so if i start saving money now i could finish off the loan if i get the schol....but if i dont get the money how would my mom pay for it?i cant ask her not to get the loan cos she made it clear she wanted it.

    what is the urgency?

Get a job, work for a bit, save some money then see how you feel about higher education....

A levels are not the only route into HE. Maybe you'd be better suited to an access course or maybe start with a foundation degree.

Or AVCE, I have no knowledge about them, i just know they are equivelant to A level but more practical.

We dont have much educational options here..Can do Cambridge O/Ls, IGCSE, London and Cambridge A/Ls and ABE.Can't do Access or AVCE...we do have our own institutions where they offer certificate and diploma levels...but I doubt they'd be accepted by unis.there r a lot of schols for undergraduate studies announced each year and the criteria is for 5 O/Ls and 2 A/Ls the least...(sounds really easy i know).....prob is I have to pay for my own studies...I cant do a Diploma course since it would be full-time, and then how would I get the money?I've been working for 4 yrs now...and most of my money have been wasted due to my stupidity
