Interview @ the national space centre in Leicester

Hey, I have got an interview at my local attractions (the national space centre in Leicester) and just got informed today. I have been looking for a part time job for the last 6 months with a few unsuccessful interviews reached. But, in recent weeks I have stepped up a gear in an attempt to get a job, and been consistent in applying for jobs, as well as taking my time to fill out application forms, and it’s looking like its paying off.

The thing is that I am terrified for the interview (next Thursday) and was wondering if any1 has ever been to an interview at the space centre? I know there is only a few people on here that even live in Leicester never mind applying there but it is always worth a try. If not, what sort of questions do you think they would ask? What should I wear! Am so excited and extremely scared!

I have been told by freinds not to wear a suit as I think that I would be working with children and need to show them I am fun? I am so confused! please help!

Always wear a suit to an interview. Unless your under 17/18, then it's more acceptable to turn up in shirt and tie.

If you're female, then I have no idea :p:

no am a male and 17 this sunday so I will be 17 when I attend the interview

i'd say don't wear a suit. wear something smart, like a shirt, but not too smart like a suit or anything. i've never worked there, but you should maybe expect some questions along the lines of:

"Why do you want to work here".
"Why should we employ you".
"What sort of skills can you bring to the space centre".
"Do you have an interest in Space etc" maybe?

You should go into the interview feeling confident, and not looking like you're as nervous as you feel. Don't answer questions with just a "yes" / "no". Make sure you speak, and sell yourself to them. But don't go over the top.

Look at it as an opportunity to practise your interview skills. If you get the job then great. If you don't then you've had some interview practise or the next one.

I've never worked or even been there, so i honestly have no idea what it'll be like though. Good luck. Eden

OK... i am in a bit of trouble and very scared, I really want this job but this guy in my college already works there, and his girlfreind got an interview there! That did not really bother me but I overheard him and he is apparently going to put a bad word in for me or do something that would dismiss my cchances of getting the job or possibly even dismiss my application! what can I do to prevent this! he works there so can and proberbly will do something! and I really want this job!

ok, so i'm not entirely sure what you can actually do in this situation. just hope he doesnt do that. but you've still got the interview. don't be scared, instead do your best in the interview, to perhaps show him that you can still get the job. Don't automatically think of him threatening to put in a bad word for you asan automatic "you've not got the job". he just wants his girlfriend to get the job, but there may be more applicants than just you and his girlfriend anyway, i don't know. he cant really have that much influence on who gets a job there can he?, if he's still at college he's probably not in a high-up / particularly influential position anyway. just do your best, and see how it goes. i hoe you get the job. eden.
he'd probably get disciplined for it anyway - he shouldnt be taking an interest in personnel issues, certainly not from an outside point of view. If he said anything, A) they probably woulnt believe him and B) he's get into **** for it.

there is nothing much I can do really, if he puts in a bad word, he puts in a bad word. all I can do is prepare for the interview, and was woundering if any1 had any good websites? I so want this job!

i was given an interview too, but unfortunately as i am going to university in october and they want someone permanent I'm ineligible for the job so shan't be attending the interview, good luck though. Ignore whatever this boy is saying, most likely the right people won't hear it and if they did wouldn't pay attention to it, please don't wear a suit or a tie, this isn't a formal job, you're not applying to be a lawyer or anything, just make sure you're smart casual. My top tip is to be friendly and confident but don't make jokes incase they fall flat.
Incidentally as i am in the same boat as you ie. desperate for a job in leicester, could you let me know where else you have applied/ where is currently taking applications because I've not been having much luck myself.

Thanks every1 for all you advise and help! now something else major has come up! what to wear?

I was going to wear a suit, with a tie but everyone I have talked to says something diffrent.

Before I say the options, I want to say I would like to give the imppression that I am eager for this job, smart, freindly, approachable, as well as someone who is easy to get along with. So the options that I was thinking were:

- BUSINESS SUIT WITH TIE WITHOUT GLASSES

- BUSINESS SUIT WITHOUT TIE + WITH GLASSES

- BLACK TROUSER, SHIRT, TIE, WITH OR WITHOUT GLASSES

- BLACK TROUSERS, SHIRT, WITH GLASSES

THE REASON WHY I HAVE SAID WITH OR WITHOUT GLASSES IS BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO LOOK TOO SMART, AS MY GLASSES ARE THE BIG BLACK ONES, AND ACCORDING TO OTHERS MAKES ME LOOK SMART

Please Help! Interview Tomorow And I Do Not Know What To Wear!

Whatever you feel comfortable in.

I presume with glasses you mean sunglasses - you'll probably be inside anyway?

I'd probably go for trousers, shirt and tie if I was male - if they were formal ish.

Good luck
