Hire a helper, buy a bicycle helmet and start wearing a badge that says 'I'm Special!'?

I'd recommend you go see your GP if the pain persists. Maybe some of the medical types can give you advice on here, but its always best to play it safe.

Incidentally, what kind of pain is it, i.e. is it a throbbing pain, or a constant dull pain, et cetera?

I've done that! I just left it and it stopped after a few mins. I'd go see my GP if it was persistant though.

I’m sure my friends would love to have me in that! The amount of times they have taken me to a&e is embarrassing. Though I would argue that being on a 1st studying English at uni proves I’m not that spesssscial! Just quite accident prone!
