p1-p3 are part of the dfes p-levels and are targets for some of the most profoundly disabled children in the country.
I am referring to the Pure Mathematics 1-3 modules that were part of the Maths A-level from 2000 to 2004...

so they are just intending to dump 2 modules worth of content? Or are modules becoming worth more instead?

(the science A levels (aside from psych which the QCA *does* class as a science) are staying at 6 units, maths isn't changing (yet) and synoptic exams/study is going to become more structured and integral to the A level (and possibly to the AS level as well))
They're also going to change the current 4AS + 3 A2 standard to 3AS + 3A2 + and extended project worth equivalent work as the extra AS - the extended project will almost certainly be what offers will be based on (alongside the A level stuff) whereas atm most uni's couldn't give a crap about the additional AS level. Not sure which yr the extended project will kick in though.
The extra "stretch and challenge" questions in exams and A* grades are likely to come in but format/procedures etc haven't been decided yet.
