This is about the IGCSE English Language exam (0522) . In my coursework I received 49/50 on the portfolio section and 27/30 in my listening and speaking exam - which in total adds up to 76 marks . Now I have checked previous grade boundaries and in order for me to get an A* I need 104 marks altogether ( correct me if I am wrong ) in the whole of this course . Therefore in the core or extended paper I should approximately get 28 marks to get that A* . However there is this big problem and I am struggling so much . We have this Star test we do , which determines our reading age , and I have not done well in that and received the reading age of 13 . Now my teacher has said I will do the core paper , because I am not able to sit that paper due to my reading age . I am really worried as I know I have the techniques to do well in this paper , and I know that I do not like reading which is very bad , however I have began to read now . I am really worried as now I think as I am only allowed to do the core paper , does that mean overall for this IGCSE course I am only able to get an C . I really do not want a C in English and therefore want to show my teacher dedication and prove to her that I can do the extended paper and do well . Also if I do the core paper what will be the highest grade I can achieve taken in account the fact that I have achieved 76 marks in the 60% of its coursework required. I am really worried please can you help .

Ur speaking mark shud be scaled down so that it's out of 25. So u got 23. So u need 32 ish for an a*. U probably only need 4/50 in the extended paper to get a C.. so I don't know why ur teacher is forcing u to do core

To get a C in the core, you have to get 80 marks (all together including coursework) To get a B, you need about 96 (I think) So an A will be 100/110? My English teacher still said it is still possible to get a B and A, maybe A*. I hope this helps.
