When starting out with someone, is weekly dates frequent enough?

Given we don't live near each other nor randomly see each other, should we communicate in between dates?

When i had been in relationships in the past we didn't meat up so frequently, once a week or every few days if we was at different colleges. As for communication we talked all the time on text/phone

Yes I think a date a week is reasonable. Its okay to talk inbetween.

You shouldn't need to ask what to talk about with your dates, it should flow naturally.

    What did you talk about?
The idea is to get to know each other more, each other's history, strengths, flaws, preferences, ect.

I wouldn't say it's a bad sign. As long as one of you checks in to ensure all is well for the upcoming date, I don't see why it would be a bad sign. I am used to being in regular contact with the guys I'm dating though.
