I keep throwing up

At about 3 today I started to feel really bad, got a horrible uncomfortable pain in my stomach and started throwing up. I've thrown up about 5 times now. I have no idea what it is - feels like when I had food poisoning but I don't think I've eaten anything dodgy. I'm on antibiotics so maybe its that?

What can I do about it? I've got a ball tomorrow I've paid 70 quid for the ticket for and been looking forward to it for ages. Not to mention my finals start in 10 days and I've just lost half a day of study. Would drinking milk help?

I dont think milk would help at all. Drink clear fluids i.e only water. Antibiotics can have the effect of sickness and diarreah so it may be down to that or it may be a general stomach bug. I'd reccomend sticking with sips of water and when you do feel ready to eat try some dry toast, in the mean time i find alka selza XS or pepto bismol can help settle my stomach.

Agh OK, I'll stick to water, although I'm even throwing that up now. I NEVER get sick, why did it have to happen noow. :frown:

Try milk of magnesia? It will settle anything acidic in your stomach.
Also, try a lot of rest before tomorrow for your ball.
Good luck!

Probably is food poisoning
my doctor just said to avoid milk drink water/very weak squash or watered down orange juice in small sips, then just wait it out and get lots of rest.

Black tea (no milk or sugar) is something different to drink if you're sick of water. It should pass by tomorrow though - violent sicky bugs don't usually last too long.
Herbal tea with glucose sugar, a hot water bottle for the pain and as much rest as possible. I had something very similar a month or two ago and to be honest, you might not be up to the ball tomorrow... so might be worth trying to flog the ticket if you can!

Could be the antibiotics, as if it was a stomach bug most of the time it's out the other end too. If it persists then go back to your doctor and ask for others, it might take a while to find some that agree with you, especially if you've got a delicate stomach (i have the weakest stomach in the world, and it took me a while). Hope you get better soon

Could be food poisoning, as some types cause vomiting only, or it could be a reaction to the antibiotics. The best thing to do is rest, and try to keep yourself hydrated. Weak squash or something would be good, but if you could persuade one of your friends to go and get you some 'dioralyte' (sp?) that would be even better, as that has the right combination of salts and sugars which will help you feel less ill.

If you do feel like eating, try something like some dry crackers or dry toast, or even, if you have it, something like jelly or clear soup.

Hope you feel better for the ball!

Yeah my bf's mum recommended 7 Up, that I can get. I dunno where I can get medicine now the pharmacies are shut. I'm really hungry but daren't eat anything. What can I do about that?

I don't usually get sick with antibiotics but they usually give me thrush (lol TMI). These are a different kind to any Ive had before. It may be food poisoning too since it is coming out of the other end, but then I have IBS so that's normal for me. What a gross post lol.

Cracked it! Did you find it flairs up after you've taken the antibiotics? I have IBS too and it took me ages to find some that didn't upset my stomach, i used to get a really violent attack about an hour or so after taking them when they hit my stomach. I just suggested going back to the docs for others if it doesn't get better by morning.

(Btw, does the poo smell funny? sorry, but that's one indication of a stomach upset IF it is just a bug.)

Hmm not sure. I didn't get sick until the 3rd day taking them, and a good few hours afterwards. I've stopped them now anyway so we'll see!

I would just stick to dry food. Like corncrackers or those small melba toast things if you have any.

It's probably food poisoning but I think you should go and visit the doc though if it doesn't go away soon.

Cola seems to help , i've noticed this can help you when you've got a really bad stomach!!
I know the feeling, I have gastritis! I always find milk helps but that's because my problem is acid-based, not a bug etc. If you're at the stage where you can't keep even water down, ice cubes are great to suck on because they don't flood your stomach with water, making you vomit, so they help you keep some liquids down, plus they're really soothing for a sore throat. Hope cinderella gets to go to the ball!

yes, ive found that drinking some coke seems to settle my stomach if im feeling sick and according to what my mum says adding a little bit of salt to it helps get your electrolytes back in sync coz they tend to get a bit messed up when you're violently sick, its also good for the height of summer when you loose loads of salt through sweat etc as well.
