Are feminists becoming annoying?

I agree with some of the things that has been said here, however I think that 'feminism' is often given negative connotations which need to be abolished. Of course, there are 'feminists' who are leaning more towards fighting for a female supremacist society than an equal one. This I can agree may be counted as 'annoying', however it has come through oppression and the need for a voice. In its essence feminism is more than that- it is about connecting both men and women to make an equal and diverse society.

I would call myself a feminist. However that does not mean that I believe that we should be the same as men or put on a pedestal. I believe in equality, accepting each person for their strengths and weaknesses, and working together to create a society in which neither males nor females nor anyone in between or outside are given varying treatment due to stereotypes. This goes for wages or appearance. Issues such as fair pay is spoken about a lot. It needs to be, if it is not brought up, how will it change?

As far as not shaving goes... It's a small gesture, but, as Drunk Punx pointed out, it's more about not being rejected or there being prejudice over women not shaving their legs. I shave my legs as they end up silky smooth which is fun, but because of media pressure and to be 'attractive'... Don't make me laugh. This should not be the case. Especially when men can resemble gorillas and be labelled as 'manly' and 'hot' whereas a women would be deemed by the media as 'unsanitary' and 'masculine'. Does this really seem like the equal and modern society that some people are under the impression we live in?

All this is just in the UK, it gets even worse further afield.

But the thing is that it isn't instinct to judge a woman for not shaving, it's something that is taught by society. Of course people can choose whether they find leg hair or armpit hair attractive in a potential partner, but some people think that it's 'gross' on women. That isn't instinct, bodily hair is a natural part of the human anatomy.

This is so difficult to answer, because on one hand I would say a lot of feminists come across as annoying because of their approach, one the other hand people finding them annoying and labelling them as the "plague of society" makes me want feminism to rise and conquer because it feels like they are taking issue not with the feminists themselves, but with what they are saying.

We're expected to do the cooking and cleaning, and not being good at anything else, woman are just as good as men in sports and other fields yet even still the olympics is split woman can't compete with men. I mean I am all for equal opportunities and gender equality but I think mainstream feminists are pissing everyone off. I am a socialist myself but I don't go quote the communist manifesto to everyone because I know some people arent interested.
There are so many issues like the average salary of women being 30% less than that of men, like less than 10% of judges being women and we all know about what women have to go through in the middle east and africa. But feminists... They're concerned with women shaving their legs?!!!! They wanted to kill the royal baby because it was a boy?!!! They propose that a woman should be able to abort her child even after birth?! They encourage other women who are biologically heterosexual to sleep with other women. I mean what the ****?!!!!!! Why do they want to make women hate men?!

It is peer-reviewed research, by expert in the field. Video games, female characters are objectified as sexual objects, all this is very well documented that tropes are HARMFUL. And more you think you can't be affected, the more likely you are. All this is out there in academia with presentations and slide shows done all around the world.

You see this is why you need to be educated before you discuss a topic like this. The term 'Feminist' is a very general umbrella term. There are different types of feminists. The type you are referring to are the radical feminists who basically hate men and their existence, and believe everything is objectifying women. These radical feminists are not feminists as they are not looking for equality, just to put men down is all they want.

However, there are other, more useful types of feminists who i believe are needed and have been successful at gaining equality in the past. Liberal feminists are popular feminists who, for example, are necessary especially in poor LEDCs. They don't hate men.They seek equality through political and legal reform, and are generally striving to be treated equally, such as through equal pay,( still not perfect but it's getting there), equal rights etc.And dont you agree that feminists are needed for that?

So please dont generalise feminists to men hating animals, because they are not. You need realise just how broad the spectrum is.

The point was leaning more toward the fact that you could stop shaving and society would be all up for your manliness whereas if I did it some people may get a bit grossed out and question my femininity (and thus this needs to stop)
