I currently hold an offer for Literature at newcastle, and I had to pick between either this or law. Due to time pressure for writing a statement, I didn't really get time to decide and consider which I should study. I am starting to have doubts as to whether I stick to a literature degree, or try an converge onto a Law degree? I'm not sure how this would be done, however I recieved a partners offer so I am required to attend the summer school. Any advice would be extremely helpful

    Hey Tom

It's possible to change courses before you start, but your UCAS application would need to be looked at by the Admissions Officer for Law and if they decided to make you and offer the conditions might be different from your offer for English. (As your PS probably doesn't mention Law you could submit an extra supporting statement to be looked at).

It's also possible to switch degree courses after enrolment, but I'm not sure how common this is for the Law School. As it's a very individual process you'd need to talk to them directly. I'd recommend getting in touch with Gemma Hayton on [email protected] and explaining your situation. She can talk you through the process Even if you might stick with English it's good to know what options are open to you now.

    All the best,

    Persephone
