I am planning on studying Aerospace Engineering for Uni. In Netherlands, Delft Uni, they offer a BSc in Aerospace Engineering. What difference does it make if I do BSc or BEng if I want to be a chartered engineer?

Simply having a BSc instead of a BEng makes no difference. TU Delft is one of the best engineering universities in Europe, certainly no employer will look down on a BSc from there. A number of Delft's BSc degrees are accredited with the Engineering Council but for some reason the Aerospace Engineering degree is not. You should email Delft and ask why not. It may just be that it is a newer course and the website hasn't been updated.

    Hey there!

I have had many friends study in Delft - it's a very good university and a great place to study.

The difference between BSc's and BEng's can often depend. Course content is usually where the distinction is made and, after completing a degree, if an interviewer wants to know more about the degree it's the course content which makes the difference. Some places make the distinction of a BSc containing more research-based work and the BEng has more class-based work, but this is not always the case.

As Snufkin mentioned, it may be due to accreditation. Some European institutes award BEng's if the course has been accredited. Here at Glasgow, you are awarded a BSc instead of a BEng if you leave early, or are struggling towards the end of the degree. I cannot stress that it changes, though. Check through the course content and email the university directly if you have any queries. For all intents and purposes, a BSc and BEng can be synonymous.

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions!
