My IBS is finally gone, and i'm so happy about it, so i'd thought i'd share how i've pretty much cured it in case it helps someone else
1. The number one cause of my IBS was worrying / anxiety / panicking. If it was coming up to a stressful event, such as an exam, my IBS would get really bad, so I now always try to be completely calm all the time
2. Have a good sleep schedule. My IBS was pretty bad when I was going to bed at 3am
3. Drink lots of water and eat lots of lettuce / spinach
4. Avoid alcohol and energy drinks. Fizzy drinks might also have a bad effect

Which type of ibs do you have?
I do everything you have mentioned on a daily basis and unfortunately it makes no difference to me.
