Hello, I am in a fortunate position to be choosing between 2 jobs. However, I am torn between them because of benefits and the job role. I would like to save as much money as possible for various reasons (not through lust for wealth! otherwise I would have gone into banking).

The job with better benefits is a little ambiguous in terms of what I could be doing, and the skills I will gain are not as widely applicable in terms of future employment.

The other job sounds like it could be amazing, although the benefits are less (around £5000 less + other factors).

Of course the reality of the situation is that I will never know the exact role prior to starting...hence the title: leap of faith.

    What would you do?

There is not enough information for anyone to give you a more informed answer, other than whether they personally would take the leap of faith. But I do think it's very unusual to know the exact role before starting. Have you inquired more about it?

    Hi there!

What Smack said sums it, basically. It's very hard to be certain about what a role will offer, what you will be doing, whether you will enjoy it or not. The best people can give you is pretty generic advice.

There are so many factors to think about. In my personal opinion, I would go with whatever interested me the most, or whichever is in the field I am wanting to pursue. If you would be happy at either job, then you can afford to be more picky. It makes sense to go where you'd be happiest.

Try inquiring into a more thorough job description, or see if there any forums where those who have worked at each respective company have discussed jobs.

Apologies for the vagueness, it's just weighing up pros and cons for yourself!
