Not doing the same book, but for an A/A* in lit, you need to use precise quotes A LOT, and analyse them in detail i.e. say a lot about a little. Also, be sure to analyse structure because that shows you're thinking about the book as a whole.
For poetry, you just need to know the poems inside out and teach yourself to be able to look for techniques and themes. You need to link techniques to what the poet is trying to say.
