I'm aware many people use teachers from secondary school as a reference. Do you think it is okay to ask them on facebook? I am not friends with them, but have no other way of getting in contact with them. I left school last year so I'm guessing it is not too bad if I did.

I wouldn't. If you want, you can always just message them.

If you really need their reference then I would suggest calling the school office (the number should be on your school website) and ask for your teachers email address.

I didn't think of that, thank you! I have one reference from college, but they are only able to provide me with the work e-mail that they have. I've been told that employers don't like when they are given e-mail addresses. One of my teachers was my friends mother so I guess it is okay to ask her over facebook if it came to it!

Teachers will probably be wary of contact over facebook, even with recent ex-pupils. Just contact the school directly. Employers have no problem with email addresses, so long as they are business emails, not personal ones, eg @sch.uk, not @hotmail.com
