My employer accepted all voluntary redundancy requests from staff. I stayed on but found the job was excessively demanding so they have accepted my voluntary redundancy request. I don't understand why they would accept all voluntary redundancy requests when people have knowledge and skills that a crucial to the business. Could the business be merging with another company?

If you have employees who don't want to be there but you force them to be they become unhappy and less productive. Plus you can't force someone to work.
