Benidorm, Spain

Has anyone been to Benidorm? Thinking of booking a holiday there with a friend..i just want a nice and fairly large resort, with not too many 'chavs' there!! Last time I went to Salou, it was chav-town. I hope Benidorm isn't like that? Also, does anyone know how easy it is to get to Granada (thinking of going for a day..or is that not possible?) ?

Thanks!
When are you thinking of going? I am going in july for 3 weeks, its a good place, you do have to be careful not to take back roads there have been reports of women being mugged along the back streets.

However.....

It is a good place, plenty of bars, resturants, beaches are great, water parks, casino, market.

plus, mum went last year and brought me back 5 pairs of shoes which cost around £30 in total, really cheap and ace quality.

Not sure how long it takes to get to granada, but the transport links are pretty good, just don't go on a trip with a tour group will cost u a fortune

The only time i went to spain was to this place called Benidorm. I didn't enjoy myself because it was very crowded with.. the British! It was as if I was still in England, except the weather had got a lot hotter and there's a beautiful beach. So it's a great place to go if you want sun, sea and sand, and you dont want to spend much. I do, however, remember it to be very crowded.

I'm gonna be honest, can't stand Benidorm. Horrendously packed in summer, especially with British and German people - both tourists and ex-pats. I'm sure in parts it's a nice place but there's just so many people! It's ridiculous! It is easily recognised by the all-inclusive holiday hunter, along with the likes of Tenerife, Marbella and Lanzarote. Plus I get a little freaked out when I'm automatically spoken to English when I'm in Spain :s-smilie:

Personally I'd say go a little further down the coast to somewhere like Alicante or Torrevieja. Still a fair few ex-pats/tourists but a lot more mixed, generally multicultural, great Spanish and Morroccan markets and less packed but still lively enough in the right places. Or if you can get there, Almeria/Mojacar, though that's a lot more relaxed. However I don't go for the whole clubland europa thing so it's my kinda place
