Hydrogen environments in NMR Watch

    1-chlorobutane has 4 hydrogen environments. Why isn't there only 3, as there are 3 distinct groups in the molecule?

    CH2ClCH2CH2CH3

    The Hs on C1 are next to CH2CH2CH3
    The Hs on C2 are next to CH3 on one side and CH2CH3 on t'other
    The Hs on C3 are next to CH2CH3 on one side and CH2Cl on t'other
    The Hs on C4 are next to CH2CH2CH2Cl.

    All are in different environments.

    It isn't just about what they're next to, it what they're next to too, etc.
