    LOOOOOL
A degree (which should ideally be from Oxbridge, Warwick, lse, ucl or imperial) is only the first step to securing an internship in banking. You friend will need excellent communication, leadership, analytical, numerical and teamwork skills which he can show through top notch extracurricular activities like being in an executive position in a uni society, playing sports, volunteering and stuff like DofE, NCS/ICS or other awards. He should be a high achiever and have great people skills.

He also needs to have great knowledge about the world of finance and be able to talk about different financial instruments and the market conditions (if he wants to apply for s&t) or be a whizz at excel (if he wants to do ibd). If he doesn't know what division he wants to work in, then he clearly needs to have some more commerical awareness and do some research.

Also, if he just finished his degree, it will be even harder for him (especially if he has no prior finance experience) to get into banking because he can't apply to internships so will have to apply for graduate schemes (99% chance of getting rejected) or do a masters degree (around £20000 and still no guarantee of getting an internship) and apply from there.

Tell your friend that if he isn't passionate and truly committed to every component of a career in finance that he should just consider other good opportunities like big4 accounting which are less competitive.
