Training is not 3 months it's never been three months there will be exams and also practical application which also needs to be passed and have your manager, their manager and tax academy sign off on before you're classed as being substantive. Some holidays are allowed but it is frowned upon taking holidays during training as it's so fast paced it's difficult to keep up with. They give you specific times off in the training timetable.
I've started today and was told there are now no exams at all.

Been through university myself and whilst I passed all my exams then I've never been confident when sitting exams, moreso when for this role I've had no information on what they will be about, how often, how many we will have to complete, how our training will be structured etc. I think its just the lack of information throughout this whole process which has made me anxious!

Its my last day in my current role tomorrow, and despite my reservations about the new role I am looking forward to taking on a new challenge as my current role just isn't challenging me anymore.

    Im HO, how about you?
Thought I might have been starting with you today, but I was the only person there! Where are you working? I'm in Large Business, Employer Compliance in Imperial Court.

I thought I would of seen you too, but I'm in individuals and small buisness compliance. Interestingly I was the only HO grade that started today, the other 13 people who also started with me were O.

Flexi, Mon-Fri, think it's between 7am and 7pm the office is open. Will go in to a bit more detail about this and holidays tomorrow. I think I'm going to enjoy it lots though!

I've come from a call centre, so can very well believe that!

Have you had a formal offer yet? There are more people starting in my office in January.

Well it's true for the line of business that I am in. I'm the first intake without exams

I've submitted all my documents, completed the dbs application, completed and sent them the character enquiry form, pension questionnaire and health declaration form. They've also asked for the details of two personal referees. And all this has happened between last Thursday and today. So fingers crossed that I get a formal offer in Jan or Feb.

Let me know how you get on. It's been a long wait for us all...

Well if you could find out possibly if it applies across the board it would help many people on here as there appears to be some confusion about the whole thing

That all took about 4/5 weeks for me so encouraging that it's been condensed for you, even though you've been waiting the same amount of time as me (or even longer? can't remember what campaign you're under). I don't think you'll be waiting very long for an offer.

I'll ask. Can you elaborate what you mean by 'across the board'? As it was only my first day today I'm not very familiar with the organisation structure! All I know is I'm working in Large Business, in Employer Compliance, in the same room as me is VAT and CT and CRMs.

What I mean is the talk is that it will depend whether you are in " Large business". "SME ( small medium enterprises )" VAT etc as to whether or not you do exams and 2 strikes and your out applies etc

Are you at Liverpool Kneale as a HO? It would be much appreciated if you could find out if there was no exams for all the HO roles now.

I'm in Large Business and that is split into CT/VAT and EC. I'll see if I can check tomorrow about areas other than Large Business. I really do not have any exams though.

Hi, I'm at Imperial Court in Liverpool and I'm O grade. Unsure what the situation is with HOs as I was the only person starting today!

We are in Regian House. I was told today that there is an earlier group that started last month that we will join up with in January and we will then commence our formal tax training schedule. I was also told like you that there is no longer any exams due to the fact that the training is no longer accredited and HMRC don't want to spend thousands training staff to then just boot them our for an exam failure when the individual would be still capable of doing the job.

I like you however wonder what I am going to do between now and starting the formal training in January.

As I have mentioned before the exams are only currently done by one line of business which is specialist PT, I don't think any other line of business is doing them.
