I'm not a trainee I've been an HO for a while now. But we've had plenty of new trainees here and they are all managing perfectly fine.
Ah I see, thanks. Well, see this is what I'm wondering. Whether HOs in reserve from TSP have a different training programme to HOs from a different recruitment stream as it's a different job ref with presumably a different job description.

The 1666/16 job title is HO Tax Professional Programme (rather than Tax Specialist Programme), so different to that of a Tax Professional Operational Delivery Higher Officer Caseworker job advert (although probably the same position).

What you've said there probably does describe why the job advert specifically mentions 2 years though.

Are you on the 1666/16? How are you finding it? I'm anxiously waiting for a formal offer fingers crossed.
1666/16 is just the recruitment campaign reference. Everyone from all the different recruitment references end up in the same place in the end, obviously different areas and streams.

Os/HOs recruited post-TSP are no different to Os/HOs recruited directly. How you're recruited doesn't actually matter. The only difference I read through comments on here is PT Ops still have exams whereas the rest of E&C don't. I know I don't, I've just started in Employer Duties in Large Business. From what I can gather, the training programme has been getting shorter and shorter in length, from 2 years originally, my paperwork has mention of it being for 12 weeks(!) but obviously on the job learning would continue for a long, long time.

Tax Professional / Tax Caseworker / Tax Specialist is the same thing.

Yeah I assumed they would be the same, however the job title itself is actually different which is why I wondered whether it'd be a different training stream, but thought not. Thanks for the info.

There seems to be so many continual changes, it's hard for me to keep up, especially being brand new to the civil service. I'm still trying to get my head around everything 😂

To be more specific, the 1666/16 job advert states that it's a 2 year structured development programme (as opposed to the 3 year tsp), with the business area being Tax Academy. I'll just sit tight and wait and hopefully get lucky with this year's TSP and start it before it even becomes an issue 😂😂. At this rate it seems more likely this year's lot will start before some of the reserves from last year!

Just looking through my paperwork, I'm 1667/16 so O grade post-TSP but will be training with other O/HO grades directly appointed, it states I will have an induction training of up to 12 weeks. It then states I will started a Training Assessment Period will will last no longer than two years. But even this info is out of date as it makes mention of exams.

Do you ever hear anything about the 15/2066 campaign from 2015? There's still people waiting on formal offers for that campaign in multiple locations. It's just getting ridiculous now
No they are just reference numbers for jobs. Basically we have people starting every other week. The managers just get told who and when people are starting from civil service jobs we don't know the campaign they've come from.

Interesting that because any time I have phoned CSR they have said the ball is in the court of the vacancy holder in this case HMRC

    Got this email today

Good afternoon, As your pre-employment checks have been completed, your information will now be with the business. Unfortunately, we have no further involvement with the process until the formal offer is ready to send. Our department will be notified once your formal offer has been prepared. The business is currently dealing with a large amount of candidates, unfortunately, this means we are unable to obtain individual updates. All formal offers have at least 4 weeks notice. There is nothing more you need to do at this moment in time. I apologise that I cannot be more specific. Thank you, E&C Recruitment Support Team

Hey Qwertz93, I passed my pre- employment checks last week. Waiting on a start date for Newcastle. How long was it from passing your checks to getting a formal offer?
    Cheers,

    Hey trj1989

I completed my pre-employment checks at the start of December and received my formal offer on the 28th December. Good Luck, hopefully it won't be too long a wait.

    Hi All

I'm waiting on Newcastle too. I have all pre-employment checks passed as of mid-December.

I was offered the officer role (on the back of the CSR/1667/16 campaign) to start on the 5th December and turned this down to wait on the HO.. I'm now beginning to worry it will never happen! I need to give a lot of notice to my employer as recruitment in my industry is a nightmare and I work difficult hours so its causing a lot of stress that they will not give me enough time to leave and make sure I'm replaced!

Does anyone know... Would the formal offer just be issued on the application centre or through email? I've read some other posts about receiving a phone call about working hours etc but not sure if this was for other campaigns.

I am 2066/15 for Glasgow and I'm still waiting. It'll be 5 months since my provisional offer on Sunday and 2 months since my pre-employment checks were completed on Saturday.
