Poll

Which university is best for studying law at?

Hello everyone!
Currently I have offers from University of Birmingham, Lancaster University and Newcastle University.
I want to study law. Could you please tell me pros and cons of studying at these universities and which do you think has a better reputation among law firms and future employers?
Thanks in advance!

Have you been for open days at each one or at least visited? Have you done a pros and cons for each one? I would pick Birmingham as thats steady and middle of the road. there are many other factors in choosing a uni though.

Hey! I have an offer from Birmingham for too for Law! I'd choose Birmingham but I'm being a bit biased
Birmingham is the 2nd largest city. Their law society has a excellent reputation. One of the best law schools in the UK. 8th for employment in the UK. They have good links to silver and magic circle firms in the UK. Birmingham and Nottingham are part of 21 University programme. Selected 21 universities across the world where Birmingham allows student to study at other top universities across the world. There is also the global challenge where depending. On your first or second year you get to go to a paid internship abroad places such as Brazil Morroco China Chicago Singapore... its quite good
Lancaster is really good too! Quite high in the rankings.
Newcastle University.. well.they have come several times to my school and they seem to be good..They have good societies and a nice location- the seaside

Really interesting study done by Chamber student and The Times into what universities Law Firms appear to prefer. They interviewed thousands of trainee solicitors and noted down what universities each came from. Might be useful to you, as you've struggling to decide what university to firm and what university is more respected by Magic circle firms. results from the Chamber Student and The Times are listed in the thread linked below
