Problem due to bullying 10+ years ago at High - Feel guilty on my Mum Watch

Hi Guys, making anon just because.

My Mum is disabled, has only 1 arm, but is a big inspiration in my life, she was a fully qualified nurse for many years and one of the best.

At high school I was bullied as a result of this, they would tell me there's no way your mum's a nurse with one arm, or laugh about it to each other. This really hurt me and at the time I experienced guilt and as a result it affected the relationship I had with my mum (maybe I was weak minded and still am).

Now every time I see my Mums arm I experience a guilty feeling inside, and it causes awkwardness between myself and my mum, when this happens she always cover her arm up and it eats me up inside because it never used bother me, and I don't want her to think the wrong thing.

I don't know what to do really

Everyone is affect in a similar way when they are young and in the schooling institution. we grow, and learn from these experience. we learn that people are ignorant and when we are young can lack the sense of empathy. you need to remember that you right now and back then are not the same person. You have matured and have a stronger mind. How you behaved as a child should not affect the relationship with your mum as an adult. You can even try talking to your mum about it. Just be honest.
