    Hello,

Want to know more about Higher Education and what university life is like at Plymouth?

We are all former graduates of Plymouth so if anyone has anything that they would like to know about the university, the city, or student life in general, don't hesitate to ask the grads!

You recently published a list of clubs and societies - out of curiosity what about any non- drinkers? Some universities seem very proactive in this area.

    Hi Same Different,

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you on this!

I have been in contact with the Vice President of Activities within the UPSU Student Unionand here's what he had to say:

"All clubs and societies run various events from training and friendly matches, trips, all alongside various socials including gaming or workshops for each society such as DJ-ing, knitting, painting, designing, editing, etc. It's all dependant on each society or club, but there is a lot more on offer than the experiencing night-life side of things."

We would also suggest checking out the societies page on the UPSU's website, here’s a full list of societies.

I have also been in contact with someone from our Residence Life and Student Services Team about advice from an accommodation perspective. She has advised that you can be placed in 'alcohol free rooms' in halls of accommodation. This isn't something that is policed but is more of a mutual understanding between students to not consume alcohol.

She has also advised that when filling in the accommodation profile form to just be weary of how you answer some of the questions, for example saying that you like late nights would imply you prefer a social atmosphere centred around going out to drink.

I hope this information is useful for you, sorry again for the late reply. Don't hesitate to get back in touch should you have any further queries!
