    School bits:
    Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs on the 18th May (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

    (WJEC) English Language: A*
    (WJEC) English Literature: A*
    (Edexcel) Maths: A*
    (OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
    (OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
    (OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
    (AQA) German: A*
    (OCR Modern) History: A*
    (AQA) Geography: A*
    (OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

    Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

    A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Also, recently, people have asked if they can post their revision on here too so it can help motivate everyone and we can help each other along - feel free to join in

    Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken

Apologies for joining this thread ridiculously late, but I just came across the above and could not help thinking how alike it is to my situation. These are my last mock marks:

    Maths: 100/100 A*
English language: 47/50 A : (can't get an A* in this individual exams; the A* mark is calculated once all components are completed)
    English literature: 60/68 A*
    Biology: 53/60 A*
    Chemistry: 50/60 A*
    Physics: 52/60 A*
    History: 40/40 A*
    German Reading Paper: 40/45 A*
    German Listening Paper: 33/40 A*
    Art: 78/80 A*
    RS: 40/40 A*

Like how you have severe Atopic Eczema, I have severe OCD so education and studying in an obsession for me, hence I mercilessly exert my all in it.

What board are you doing ? The grade boundaries are really low for OCR 21st. It was 41 for an A star last year.

    I do AQA!

I do GCSE PE with OCR and the grade boundaries are crazy but on the opposite end of the spectrum!!! 57/60 needed for an A* on the majority of the papers!!!

Problem is 41 isn't low for OCR...I've done a paper where you only needed 33 before haha
OCR are horrific I hate them so much
Why do you hate them ?Shouldn't it be easier to get an A star then ? I always get near 50 or above in my science mocks.

    It is ._.

Thankfully the written exam is only 40% of the course so because I have gotten A* on my practical and coursework I can afford to get an A in the exam!!

    You'd think so but nooo
I normally do hit the A* but not by much (I usually get low to mid 40s) but I just find the exams awful as I'm never completely sure what they're asking and never end up including key words and losing a load of marks...science is what I'm most scared about tbh, it's up there with English
It also doesn't help that for every science paper I'll sit (and there are 9 of them) there's always one unit that messes me up completely as I just don't understand it at all...

    Wow that's insane!!
I do it with AQA and it's such an easy exam with grade boundaries of around 64/80 for an A*!
(Probably still gonna get a B though because of my shocking physical performance but hey)

Just go through the past papers with the mark scheme and memorise it. Works every time for me. The content is always repeated and you will get to know what they're asking just from the wording of the question. Good luck.

Congrats on the grades, and with the OCD I hope that you're coping with your illness😊 Try to go easy on yourself with the upcoming exams, your health should always be top priority, I'm always here if you need anything! I used to have quite severe depression and a self harming problem so I understand how hard it can be.

Hey, I'm doing that exam tommorow and a bit scared! Good luck! I'm sure your hard work will pay off!

I was wondering, what papers are you doing tomorrow? For ethics I am doing medical ethics and poverty and wealth and for perspective war, peace and human rights and prejudice and equality.

    Update-15/05/2016
So, my GCSEs will officially start tommorow!(cue the dramatic music). I hope my hard work will pay off! To be honest, I'm scared and excited at the same time!

    Again, mostly focused on RE-
    -Wealth and poverty
    -Medical ethics
    -War, peace and human rights
    -Prejudice and equality

I learned all the teaching and the examples. Did a bunch of past papers and even timed myself.

I also revised Data handling, use of maths which I have tommorow afternoon. Did a past paper and somehow got a 35/50 which is disappointing. Hopefully, the real exam will not be as hard as the specimen paper.

Wow! Those are phenomenal mock scores you should be immensely proud!! And I suppose OCD is probably a good thing for you especially around now when studying is so important (though I guess it will have it's downsides)

Keep it up and the best of luck
