    You're welcome!

We had to compare/contrast about 4 or 5 poems so my plan is probably more detailed than you need but anyway.

    1) The plan probably took me about 2 hours (after all the work and notes in class) and because it was on the computer it was much easier to add detail.

    2) To write the actual essay we had to do it in class and were only given I think 2 hours (although it was about a year ago so I'm not too sure).

If you need anything else let me know
    What was your essay question?

Also what grade did you get for yours?

I think it was something to do with how they all present commitment.

My grade was an A* but I don't know the specific mark because I can't remember what it was out of. Do you know what it is out of?

thank you very much English is the topic which I tend to be the most anxious about - since it's extremely subjective!

Yes I feel exactly the same - because something like maths has an answer where you are either right or wrong, there's no in between

yeah I completely agree. I always feel that the mark schemes for English are also very woolly. do you have any tips on how not to procrastinate for English?

    I agree with that too!!

To stop procrastinating - make it creative and colourful. If you make a character profile, use diagrams and symbols (a bit like sketch noting) to create associations. Also, just doing something like finding more complicated words for "good" would be revision and it doesn't always have to be long and strenuous, just little snippets every now and then. Little and often may be the best way to get things done if you are not always keen to study solid for an hour

    Hi there,

I know completely what you mean - my brother is in Year 10 too and he is one who stays up all night playing games and wakes up really late, although now he is starting to improve after I found a way to encourage him to work a bit more.

For me, my day starts at 6:30 and I spend half an hour getting breakfast and washing/relaxing. Then at 7:00 I will get changed and sort out my revision materials so I can start as soon as possible. Normally at a weekend, I will work from about 7 until 10 or 11 o clock and then break for lunch until about 2 or 3 and start again until about 18:00 and then do a couple of hours before bed. So it's about 21:00 when I actually wind down. Then I am in bed for 10 o clock.

This might seem a bit excessive but I must remember that when I turn up for the job, and there are the 200 other applicants there too, I want my grades to look the bests, rather than look at them and regret not getting up a few hours earlier to cover the topics on the test.

As a final point, if I prepare myself now for getting up earlier, not only does it help me feel less tired in the day when I have school, but also, when I get a job in the future, I am unlikely going to be able to dictate the hours I want to start or finish, so being able to work at various hours in my 'free-time' prepares me well for this.

    I hope this helps

    Good evening,

Yes, thank you. Your schedule put efficiency and workload productivity into place for her.

Best of luck again with your exams!

Thank you! That is the one thing I want to avoid - opening the envelope and finding out I could have done more. What subjects did you do and what grades did you get, if you don't mind me asking?
It's one of my biggest regrets for sure Here are my grades:

    OCR Biology A - A
    OCR Chemistry A - A
    OCR - Design & Technology: Food Technology - D
    AQA English Language - A
    AQA English Literature - A
    OCR Geography B - A
    AQA German - A
    AQA Humanities - A
    Edexcel Information & Communication Technology - B
    OCR Mathematics B - B
    OCR Physics A - A

My main issue was I didn't revise and I didn't really attempt the coursework. I think I was about 1-5 marks off A* for the sciences? I.T I got 100% in the exam but didn't even do most of the project work :P

    WELCOME!
    School bits:
    Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs in less than 100 days (eek). I also have mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread will make sure I have kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

    English Language: A*
    English Literature: A*
    Maths: A*
    Biology: A*
    Chemistry: A*
    Physics: A*
    German: A*
    History: A*
    Geography: A*
    ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

    Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of my left eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

    A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

In year 11 too! Can you send pics of your revision for german/ geograpy/history? thanks
