Yeah I know what you mean. I am probably just going to see what kind of mood I am in a and what the weather is doing too -becuase if it is nice I will go out but if it is pouring down I'll probably stay in and do some studying or something like that I wish I had such an interest in gaming - 8 hours is immense, but at least you enjoy it
I enjoy it, but I regret it. If you had that much interest in gaming, you'd be failing your exams lol. It's not a good thing, trust me. It's too much addiction.

Yeah probably as/a level stuff - I might do little bits every now and again - the more I know the better

I'm probably going to find topics and read up on them as much as possible - what about you?

Probably as/a level stuff or just anything I can. I might try learning something new too, but I will keep you updated about that if I do

I'm bored already lol (well, not completely bored) but I might just have some revision on stand-by for when I am really bored

Yeah more than likely - thanks. I still have 11 weeks of holiday left from today
Providing you're going to indulge in A-Level topics, welcome to the club!

Also I guess I have to work extra hard for biology because I did triple Biology in year 10 and I've forgotten it all but i'm doing it at a level

    School bits:
    Hi Everyone,

I'm in year 11 so I will be sitting my GCSEs on the 18th May (eek). I also had mocks on the 22nd Feb so keeping this thread made sure I kept up with my revision. At the moment my targets and grades are:

    (WJEC) English Language: A*
    (WJEC) English Literature: A*
    (Edexcel) Maths: A*
    (OCR Gateway B) Biology: A*
    (OCR Gateway B) Chemistry: A*
    (OCR Gateway B) Physics: A*
    (AQA) German: A*
    (OCR Modern) History: A*
    (AQA) Geography: A*
    (OCR National) ICT: A*

Some of you may look at this and wonder how I can improve, but I set really high standards and in some of my mocks I have been getting 84/85 and scores like that, so I am working towards getting as high a mark as possible, and not just securing the grade.

Hopefully, if I can get the grades, I want to go on to college and study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Geology.

    Personal bits:
If you want a bit of background I've always been quite good academically (though I genuinely hate to admit it) but I believe it is down to the fact that I have severe Atopic Eczema (that the specialist said was the worst in 30 years) and because of this, I have found studying to be a worthy distraction. I also can't see out of one eye which makes life interesting but I like it that way. If I can work hard enough, and get into University, I will be the first person in my family to do so, and considering my parents have barely any qualifications, this is definitely something I aspire to.

    A few last words:
I am open to any advice or constructive criticism and I am happy to help anyone too.

If you want to find out more about me as a person I would be happy to post info and along the way, I will be detailing revision I have done, so if you would like to see pictures of it just let me know and I'll be happy to upload

Also, recently, people have asked if they can post their revision on here too so it can help motivate everyone and we can help each other along - feel free to join in

    Mocks (22nd Feb)
Here's the posts I made about the mocks I have just taken
Wanted to let you know what I wholly support you & hope you do very well in your academics! If you need any advice let me know, I took 6 IGCSE subjects and received A* in all of them

    Please read this for me?

Moreover, Browning and Duffy both use powerful language to conclude ‘My Last Duchess’ and ‘Medusa,’ magnifying the extreme, lasting impacts and consequences of jealous love – not only upon each voice and their lover, but also the reader. The final outcome of events in ‘My Last Duchess’ serve as being the firmest reminder to the reader of the sheer, everlasting danger of jealous love, through veiled threatening and malevolent suggestions. By the Duke referencing the time in which he ‘gave commands;/Than all smiles stopped together,’ chilling, detached emotions are magnified, with the juxtaposition of the positive image of ‘smiles’ to the connotations of ‘death’ able to reveal his psychotic nature and ruthless manner. This implicit suggested reference to death is ironic, with the Duke seeming to expect the reader to consider his treatment of the Duchess as completely normal, further allowing the Duke to be represented as a monster of jealousy, ego and sadism. In addition, the ‘smiles’ serve as a reference to one of the many things that the Duchess gave others, that provoked the Duke’s treacherous jealousy and paranoia, illustrating his newfound satisfaction at having stopped them; murdering his partner being the only way in which the voice could achieve ultimate control - allowing extreme paranoia and jealousy to subside. Furthermore, this satisfaction is also emphasised through sibilance of ‘smiles stopped,’ creating a complacent and more relaxed tone, but also suggesting pure evil through significance of the snake. Ultimately, the Duchess’s emotional joy in life was unable to merge with the Duke’s twisted character.

Wow - this is incredibly thorough in-depth analysis!
I'd say every point you've made is relevant and links together well with the ideas you're presenting.
The only thing I'd change would be to remove the quotation marks around 'death', since that hasn't come directly from the text, however that's just me being incredibly picky as there's really very little to fault!

The sentence 'Creating a striking contrast...intense paranoia' seems like it isn't really a full sentence - it needs a bit more substance! Otherwise, another great paragraph! Xxx

    Thanks! Is this slightly better?

Creating a striking contrast to ‘My Last Duchess,’ with the Duke being unable to realise that jealousy is the cutting edge of love - having the inability to understand the negative impact of his intense paranoia, on himself and also his partner and assumed previous lovers.
