I have two simpson's diversity index values.

One showing the diversity of crabs on the upper shore.

One showing biodiversity of crab species on the lower shore.

The upper shore value is...... 0.08
    The lower shore value....... 5.56

What statistical test do I carry out to find out the significance of my results?

Also how do I carry out that test?

    Thank you!!!!

I would recheck your calculations and Simpsons index has to return values between 0 and 1. Unless you're looking at the reciprocal index?

And you would need to have a number of samples for each shore, and from this compare the medians using a Wilicoxon rank-sum test aka mann Whitney u
