We recently did a nucleophilic substitution reaction in class with a lot of haloalkanes.

One of the questions was;
What can you say about the structure of the compounds containing bromine? why?

I don't know if it's me being stupid but i don't understand this question or how to answer it ://

Why not try posting in a specific subject forum- you might have more luck there.

Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses.

I imagine that you were meant to be comparing the rates of reactions and see how it related to the position of the Br on the alkyl chain.

I'll bet you used butane based haloalkanes (or methylpropane).
