Physics AS LEVEL help!!!!

A parascender is being towed at a constant velocity. The rope towing the parascender makes an angle of 27 degrees with the horizontal and has a tension of 2.2 kN. the drag force of 2.6 kN acts at an angle of 41 degrees to the horizontal. Calculate the weight of the parascender. The mark scheme says the answer is 707/710N. I got part of the way with the answer 1705.8 and 998.78 but can't finish it- please help!!

Did you draw yourself a diagram? It doesn't have to be massively accurate but it really helps with this question. Weight has to equal the sum of the vertical components of drag and tension (the clue is 'constant velocity' so no net force. Then W + Tsin27 -Dsin41=0 again this is much easier to see with a diagram!!). So W=(2.6E3)sin41 - (2.2E3)sin27 which is 707N. How did you try to do it?

you just have to subtract your answers (1705.8 - 998.7) = 707.02
