although there is quite a number of people who are either at or almost at portsmouth, i dont think a sub-forum would be made.

I'll be in the School of Architecture in the Portland Building. I love that building!!! It's all wood and glass it seems such a great place to work in
mines the kind-of brand-new richmond building - with all the pretty pink and yellow benches outside!!

Portland is gorgeous, although can be a pain in sunny weather if your at certain computers working! Blinding!

I'll have to make sure I get to the right computer first then!

Any clues on which parts of town we should stay out of? As in those areas which aren't "student-friendly"?

Hehehe!! I don't know anything like that!! Wow, the first few weeks are going to be great fun!! lol!

Erm only place i keep well away from is somers town, think thats about really. and the usual not being on my own at night when it gets dark. The annoying one is having a lecture till 9 then finding urself stood at the bus stop on ur own, that bothers me but u all live close so ull be fine!

Most of portsmouth is student friendly, you can tell the difference to the place when people move back for the start of the year, becomes a different place
ok, say that i miss my offer for portsmouth, but they still let me in on another course. would i still have my place in halls, or would i be in the same situation as every other normal clearing student???

i've wondered this for a while now...

I think theyd let u keep halls, uve put ur deposit on it already... seems like alotta hassle to do it all again for a different room!!

You should still have your place in halls, if in doubt just call them up on results day. they are always really helpful when i call up wanting something!

I'm getting another accomodation letter sent to me. How much money are people starting with before they get the cheque for their student loan?
Reply 196
I've saved 4K but my parents are threatening to release that to me in "installments" :frown:
my loan is to pay for accomodation and there'll be about £1000 left over, and my parents are giving some money each week then. how much though, i dont know!

I couldnt get to my student loan whilst at uni! If you happen to be down here before the start of term, ask the nice people at ur halls to see if you can go see ur room, was really useful in knowing what things to take and leave behind, and remembering those really useful things id totally forgotten about!!
