Hey,

I'll be apart of Portsmouth University to study Business Systems, come the 30th of September when I’m moving into my room (James Watson, Block D). I'm really excited about moving in and starting university, I've purchased al most everything I’ll need bar spirits, thought I’d get those nearer the time!

I'm defiantly looking forward to freshers week, 14 nights of clubbing and boozing, will be just like home! But seriously, I realise its not all about partying, I’ll be set out to achieve from Day 1!

Is anybody buying any more furniture for their rooms? I don't think I’ll be able to fit all of my clothes and items in that strange closet. I went to visit a room in James Watson a few weeks back, was really impressed. Much better then other universities I was looking at!

Hmmm anyway I’ve run out of things to say  (had to use that smiley at some point during this post!!)

Hey Guys,

I'm going to be starting my second year and I want you all to know that you have made a good choice with Portsmouth.

Hope you are all looking forward to getting down here for the best time of your life!

You all seem to be in James Watson, you are all pretty lucky. Its definately the best halls, I was in Margaret Rule last year which was very nice too. So if any of you are there, you could have done a lot worse!

Well if any of you want to know anything just let me know coz i remember how uncertain everything was

The carpets are blue, which flat are you in?
Just had a meeting with a guy from the bank, was upgrading my account to a student account, he was telling me that one of his friends went to the university of Portsmouth, and that in some areas it can get pretty rough.

Mainly with the locals, I’m from Essex so I’m used to that environment but exactly how rough is it? Because the way it is here, you'll rarely find trouble unless your starting it yourself, just have to back down constantly unless you want a tussle in the middle of the dance floor. Are the locals out to get you? Or is it as usual just over hyped and stupid rumours.

I'm not a mouthy fella, so I’m only worried that the locals are going to be hostile to students.

Well I've been at Portsmouth uni for a year now and I can honestly say I only ever saw one fight the whole year -and that was in the union! You'd have to be pretty unlucky to get caught up in anything and if you did it would probably be because you started something

The atmosphere is really laid-back, nothing like you're used to when you go out at home. Students are cool and it's even better when you all get together and go out for a drink or twenty.

As for the rough areas, like any city there are places where you probably shouldn't go on your own but these are all in places you as a studnet wouldn't go near anyway. There are bouncers everywhere and at the weekend Guildhall Walk (one of te main bar areas) is patrolled by police.

Don't worry about trouble

Come with me and hang out in the places I do. Trust me Portsmouth cannot compare. It's like a hippy town!! Trust me I have visited my mate who lives in Merryhill while at uni in scotland. That is a warzone, the police refuse to turn up unless there are at least 12 of them in riot gear!! You get 5 year olds trying to mug you at knife point!!
woohoo, they made us a sub-forum!!!!

its in the universities bit

See ya there!
